Graduate studentships

Currently, our group at McGill consists of seven graduate students (four M.Sc.s and three Ph.D.s) and one postdoctoral researcher.  We study the dynamics and predictability of moist convection, flows over complex topography, and numerical modelling, with the goal of improving physical understanding and the performance of numerical weather and climate prediction models.  We are continuously seeking students and/or postdocs with interests in mesoscale meteorology, fluid dynamics, and numerical modelling to join this group (funding permitted).

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are priorities of my research group Student applications from underrepresented groups are highly encouraged and will be prioritized.

Preferred qualifications

The ideal background is a Bachelor's or Master's degree in mathematics, physics, or one of the physical sciences (e.g.,s atmospheric sciences, astronomy, or geophysics). Experience and interest in computer programming is highly desirable, particularly within a UNIX or Linux environment including programming in Fortran and/or C and experience in Matlab, IDL, NCL or other scientific visualization software.  Most important of all is a passion for science and a strong desire to forge a career in the atmospheric sciences.

How to apply
